I love going on vacation (I mean, who doesn’t?), but unfortunately…I do not have unlimited funds to go on all the vacations I would like to go on! That’s why I think Escape Monthly’s Vacation in a Box is an awesome idea! It may not be quite as great as actually going to Puerto Rico, but it may be the next best thing to actually being there. I’m sure you are wondering what I received in this awesome box, so I’ll move on to the unboxing. 🙂
First off, you get a “brochure” that describes and gives various information about the current vacation destination – Puerto Rico, in this case! The brochure also gives information about all the products in this month’s box!
Now on to the products inside (details from brochure)!
Moon Puerto Rico Travel Guide – Explore the best of Puerto Rico, from the majesty of Old San Juan to the world’s brightest bioluminescent bay in Vieques. Packed with everything you need to know to play your trip, this guide is the perfect complement for your Escape! ($16.99)
Mi Madre Natural Hot Sauce – Handcrafted with local ingredients, this is as addictive as it is spicy. Originally crafted in the Puerto Rican mountains between the humble towns of Coamo an Albonito, this family-recipe turned culinary-masterpiece is a staple in the Caribbean! ($2.99)
Dulzura Borincana’s Coconut-Pineapple Candy – Made with fresh coconut and pineapple, these scrumptious candy bites are a delicious sweet treat to share. We’ll be surprised if you don’t become addicted (but if that happens, we bet you’d think of someone that would.) ($5.00)
Caribbean Vela Coco Candle – Fill your home with the enchanting scent of fresh Puerto Rican coconut. Hand-poured by a small artisan with a special blend of waxes, your candle will burn bright for hours of aromatic enjoyment! ($5.00)
Coqui Pins – The Coqui Frog is an iconic animal in Puerto Rico, filling the nights with its melodic songs. Said to symbolize love, these frogs are onomatopoeically named after the sound of their call: “co-key,” which is used by the frogs to find their mates. Use this pin to symbolize love! ($9.00)
El Isleno Plantain Chips – Ask any Puerto Rican what their five favorite foods are, and two are bound to include plantains. These delightful chips are the perfect combination of salty and sweet, making them the perfect Puerto Rican snack. Enjoy their tropical taste! ($3.00)
Yaucono Cafe Puro Puerto Rican Coffee – Founded in 1896, Yaucono Coffee has been roasting some of the finest coffee beans in the Caribbean for generations. Committed to robust, defined, and powerful blends, Yaucono coffee is a local favorite loved across the island. ($10.00)
BONUS! Authentic Puerto Rican Souvenir – Make your home a little more Puerto Rican with this cute, hand-crafted souvenir. Inspired by the island’s rich artisan culture, you’ll always be reminded of your Escape to the Caribbean! ($7.00)
Also, I received another item (Tranquility Eye Pillow in Lavender) not on the brochure…I’m not sure if this is standard in all boxes or because I’m reviewing a box, but here it is!
The Verdict: Recommend! Awesome box! The plantains were fantastic, but I am seriously now IN LOVE with the Dulzura Borincana’s Coconut-Pineapple Candy and will definitely have to buy more in the future. I ate the whole bag the first night I received it! The non-edible items were all extremely cute and the coconut candle smelled fantastic. This is a great box to give you the vacation feel when you aren’t able to take an actual vacation.
The Website: Escape Monthly ($49.95/month)
Thanks for reading! Wishing you fantastic subscription boxes and great vacations!
