Before receiving this product to review, I really didn’t know much about Konjac sponges.  I’ve heard a lot of rave reviews – people discussing how excellent they are to use when washing their face – but I didn’t see any reason I’d really need one.  Eventually, after hearing many people talk about how awesome they are, I gave in and decided to review one.  And, I’ll admit it, I was wrong on this…I DID NEED ONE.  I really did need the pureSOL Konjac Facial Sponge with added Bamboo Charcoal.

When I first got it, I was a little confused.  The product was not initially what I expected…it was hard as a rock!  I read the package and it said to run water over it until it was more of a sponge-like consistency.  At first I was thinking there was no way that this product was going to get soft enough that I would want to rub it all over my face…but again, looks like I was wrong (I’m not liking this pattern that is forming!).  It definitely did get soft enough and washing my face with it feels fantastic!  It says that you can use it as is or add your own facial cleanser.  I use my own and I feel like it really helps scrub my face without causing any irritation or being too rough on my face – extremely surprising seeing how it felt when I first opened the box!

The sponge will get hard again between uses, but all you have to do to bring it back to the sponge-y texture is to run water over it.  When drying the sponge, DON’T twist it, instead squeeze the water out of it in order to preserve the sponge’s texture and make it last for a longer time. 🙂

Did you read above that the sponge is “completely natural,” “eco-friendly,” “biodegradeable, cruelty free, and vegan?”  How amazing is that?  AND to see that you can actually COMPOST THE SPONGE…it suggests adding it to your flower pot!  Wow, I’m amazed.
